The area of cultivation of medical herbs, with the exclusion of saffron, has expanded from 45,000 to 65,000 hectares, said Dr. Mohammad Hassan Ossareh, director of the Development in Herbal Plants Science and Technology Center, IRNA reports. Saffron, also known for its medicinal properties, has the largest cultivation area of 80,000 hectares in Iran.
