Only 3% of Iranians have ‘organ donor cards’, said Dr. Omid Ghobadi, deputy head of the health ministry’s Organ Donation and Transplantation Center. “Despite medical advances, sufficient effort has not been made to promote organ donation,” he said, Mehr News Agency reported. He stressed that organ donor cards have no legal authority and all transplant procedures are done only with the consent of the family.
