Nearly 45 schemes with educational-scientific scope are underway at the nursing department of the ministry of health in the current year, said Mohammad Mirzabeigi, nursing deputy at the health ministry.

The nursing care delivery system is essentially responsible for disease prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation. The department has focused on improving the existing “door to door care delivery system, and to expand the scope of practitioner nurses,” Mirzabeigi said, quoted by ISNA. Practitioners receive short intensive training in specific areas such as gastronomy, diabetes, cancer, orthopedics and the like, regardless of their higher education in nursing.

Additionally, 10,000 paramedics undergo 1-year training to compensate for staff shortage in this field. The plan is funded by the private sector, he added.
