Currently, 5.7 million graduates “have no role whatsoever in economic production.”  The latest figures show that unemployment of graduates is 18.9 percent; 12.9% of male graduates and 31.3% of female graduates are jobless,” said Kourosh Parand, deputy minister of cooperatives, labor and social welfare, Mehr News Agency reported.

He cited computer sciences, fishery, forestry and environmental sciences as university majors having the largest number of unemployed graduates, with computer sciences topping with 27.2%.

From the current 4.5 million university students, 66% are BA and BSc “who will soon swarm the market seeking jobs,” Parand said.
