Vitamin D enriched milk is to be distributed in schools, according to Zahra Abdollahi, head of Nutrition Office at the health ministry. “Iranians have Vitamin D deficiency and it is crucial to implement the plan of supplying school kids with enriched milk,” she was quoted as saying by ISNA. Noting that the plan did not come into effect last year due to insufficient funds, she said it would be executed in the current Iranian calendar year (started March 21) in cooperation with the respective organizations. Vitamin D enriched milk is currently available in the market.
