Tobacco-Free Newsstands

All newspaper stands are banned from selling cigarettes as of today and violators will have their kiosks sealed, according to Reza Ghadimi, managing director of Tehran Municipality’s Organizing Industries and Occupations Center (OIOC). “The necessary warnings have been issued to kiosk owners. Some of them are located in front of junior high or high schools creating abundant problems for students,” Mehr News Agency quoted him as saying. The measure was taken to ensure public health and the health ministry has placed the issue high on the agenda in the current Iranian year (started March 21).
