The rate of childhood cancer survival - provided timely diagnosis and treatment is given - is 75 to 80%, says Dr. Peyman Etemadfar, pediatric cancer and blood diseases specialist. “The average rate of survival with any given cancer for older people with early diagnosis is 69%,” he said, on the sidelines of the First International Blood Congress in Yasouj, capital of Kohgilouyeh-Boyerahmad Province, IRNA reported. He clarified that the number of cancer patients in Iran does not exceed the global average which stands at 1-2 people per 100,000.
