Nearly 200 children are residing with their mothers who are serving terms in prisons across the country, said Shahindokht Molaverdi, vice-president for women and family affairs. However, only 20 children are “serving time” with their mothers, and the rest live in a separate wing, she added. A kindergarten has been established in Isfahan prison following donations from a philanthropist, so prisoners can spend time with their children, IRNA quoted her as saying.
