Expatriates who are employed in Turkey will be covered by insurance following the agreement signed between Iran and Turkey on social security.
The agreement was signed after 5 rounds of technical negotiations by representatives of the two sides, said head of the negotiating team of the Social Security Organization, Hedayatollah Adibnia, quoted by IRNA.
“This is the first such bilateral agreement after the Islamic Revolution on social security,” he said.
The agreement includes 13 clauses signed in the negotiations at Tabriz, which will be submitted to the legislative bodies of the two countries for approval.
As Turkey has experience it has been selected as the pilot for the implementation of the agreement, Adibnia said, expressing hope that such cooperation could be extended to other international activities.
Neighboring Turkey hosts many Iranians in education, employment and residence. In 1994, the Turkish government claimed that as many as 2 million Iranians were living in Turkey.
