An electronic health record will be devised for every person by the end of the current administration’s term in office, says Minister of Health and Medical Education Dr. Hassan Hashemi.

“Every single individual will have a health record with all their health information,” he said, on the sidelines of the inauguration of free medical care centers in Mashhad suburban areas.

The electronic records will include a range of data, including medical history, allergies and medication, immunization status, laboratory test results, vaccinations, personal statistics like age and weight, and also ailments, if any, besides mental disorders, and addiction levels, if applicable, IRNA reported.

The system is designed to present data to accurately capture a person’s state of health at all times. It allows for a patient’s entire history to be viewed without the need to track down the previous medical record, besides ensuring that the data “is precise, appropriate and legible.”

The electronic system to be launched by the end of this year (March 20, 2016) will use state-of-the-art technology to collect health information.

He cited Mashhad University of Medical Sciences as a pioneer in delivering free medical services to suburban residents, and said “nearly 1.2 million people in the city are receiving the services.”

There is one healthcare center for every 45,000 people within the suburbs. One health home and two social workers are also assigned to every 1,500 individuals.

Although the provinces of Qom and Mashhad are on high priority, free medical care will be provided to all urban regions, he added.
