The University of Kashan has signed 10 research and scientific memorandums of cooperation with foreign universities during the last year (ended March 20).

The university has signed agreements with Iraq, France, Switzerland, India and Austrian universities to exchange students and professors, Abbas Zera’at, said head of the university reported IRNA.

Attracting 200 foreign students in different majors and investors and entrepreneurs through Google Inc. were among the international interactions of the university in the previous year, he said.  

  Achievements

“Our university was ranked top among donors,” Zera’at said, adding: “100 billion rials ($3.5 million) was donated to complete and inaugurate construction projects including dormitories, medical clinics and consultancies, and also equipping the university, last year.”

Several projects are also scheduled to be completed by the end of the current year (March 20, 2016). Inauguration of an astronomy college and Kashan Observatory (the 9th observatory worldwide) simultaneously and building science and technology parks, are among the future programs, he added.

The faculty members of Kashan University are primarily researchers and ranked first among nanotechnology experts and as also outstanding professors of tourism. Moreover, they have published over 850 articles, he noted. “The university has signed 30 research contracts with industries worth more than $200,000 and is ranked 15th on the list of top universities in Iran.”

Over 20 different camps set up, were attended by 2000 students, winning 9 regional and 3 national awards in Qur’an reading competitions, and the second place in cultural activities. Increasing the number of scientific clubs to 35 and holding open debates were other cultural achievements in 2014.

Kashan University teaches 7500 students in 200 majors in undergraduate, master’s and doctoral degrees and recently has provided 4 more majors in MA and Ph.D. The university has 300 faculty members.
