The hike in prices of thalassemia drugs is not new, and the surge in prices was due to the fact that insurance cover for some of these drugs had been removed, said FDA head Rasoul Dinarvand. Nevertheless, the issue is being examined to address the problems affecting thalassemia patients. He dismissed rumors about the rarity of some drugs, and added that any shortage of drugs in hospitals would result in the prosecution of the people in charge, ISNA reported.
