New Anti-Cancer Drugs Unveiled

Two new anti-cancer drugs were unveiled at Sobhan Oncology Pharmaceutical Company in Gilan Province in the presence of Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Mohammad Reza Nematzadeh.

The two nano anti-cancer drugs called ‘Gemcitabine’ and ‘Oxaliplatin’ are injection vials, Mehr News Agency reported.

Speaking at the event, head of the pharmaceutical firm Seyed Hamid Mostafavi noted that the company is the first in Iran to produce drugs through nanotechnology.

“In 2014, the company presented 7 new nano-drugs to the ministry of health and 12 others are currently being experimented,” said Mostafavi.  Last week at a meeting between Vice-President for Science and Technology Sorena Sattari and Russian presidential assistant for science and technology Andrei Aleksandrovich Fursenko, the latter expressed Russia’s interest to test Iranian anti-cancer drugs in one of its major centers for cancer treatment.
