The health ministry is adding 2,200 new hospital beds to its medical centers during this year (started March 21). Mohammad Aghajani, deputy for treatment affairs at the ministry, said the beds will go to intensive care units (ICU) where they are needed most, ISNA reported. There are currently 5,700 beds in ICUs, which is insufficient. The funding for the new provision comes from revenue accrued under the Health Reform Plan, he said.
