Karaj-Chalus road will remain closed due to landslides for at least a week, said Abolfazl Bagherniya, director general of road and urban development organization of Alborz Province. Heavy, prolonged rainfall across the region has triggered floods and landslides, causing extensive damage to the road but fortunately no casualties or injuries have been reported, IRNA quoted him as saying. The road’s estimated repair cost is about $3 million, Bagherniya said.
