A special quota in parliament (Majlis) seats for women should be considered a necessity to promote women’s presence in decision making positions, said Ashraf Borujerdi, a women’s right activist. Women’s propensity to pay more attention to details makes them better lawmekers, she was quoted as saying by ISNA. At present, women occupy less than 18 percent of all parliamentary seats.
