World Kidney Day

World Kidney Day
World Kidney Day

The World Kidney Day is observed annually on the second Thursday in March. Kidney diseases are silent killers, which largely affect the quality of life; however there are several easy ways to reduce the risk of developing kidney disease.

People who need to ask for a kidney health check include people who are over 60 years or have diabetes or high blood pressure. Also individuals with family history of kidney and heart diseases or people who are obese or smokers are at risk, The News International reported. Unfortunately, there are no warning signs for chronic kidney disease and individuals can lose up to 90% of their kidney function before they feel the symptoms - and by then it’s too late.
