A system whereby citizens can determine the authenticity of all medicines by text messaging the codes on their label has been launched by the Food and Drug Agency (FDA), said its head Rasoul Dinarvand in a TV interview. The system was launched a month ago and will be officially promoted from the New Year (starts March 21), ISNA reported. The initiative “is to crack down on smuggled medicines”, which he said, account for close to 40% of all imported medicines. The plan will be launched both in state and private hospitals.
