Despite 27 years after the end of the Iran-Iraq war, most border regions between Iran and Iraq are still filled with landmines, which continue to take a toll on people’s lives.  Iran has 16 million undefused mines, the highest number after Egypt. Iraq, Afghanistan, Angola and China stand third with 10 million unexploded mines, Shargh Newspaper reported. Figures indicate that from 1989 till date, 368 people in Kurdistan lost their lives and 1600 injured in mine explosions.
