All vegetable oil manufactures are directed to reduce trans fat content in their products to below 2% from next year (starts March 21).  Safety Regulations Deputy at the FDA Hedayat Hosseini said the contents of trans fat in cooking oil currently are different in various products, but is usually between 3% and 5%, ISNA reports. The FDA is also concerned about saturated fats in food products but due to the greater harm that comes from trans fats, the agency will regulate the latter more promptly.
