Concrete roads are better than asphalt in quality. They last longer and require less maintenance. Concrete surface also prevents automobiles from skidding thus keeping drivers safe. Further gallons of diesel could be saved annually if paving is done with concrete instead of asphalt, said Dr. Aliakbar Ramezanianpour, professor of Amirkabir University of Technology at the technical meeting of Tehran Urban Planning & Research Center (TUPRC).Concrete is recyclable, So rather than ending up in landfills, it can be broken down and used in new roads, Mehr news agency reported. Due to high costs of concrete it was not popular in the past, but over time costs decreased and therefore at present it is used in many countries for road surfacing.
