Solving Tehran’s problems “will require at least 15 years for doing the necessary professional investigations,” said Interior Minister Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli, at the ‘Decentralization & Capital’s Improvement’ seminar held recently at Tehran’s Tarbiat Modarres University.

He also pointed to the “lack of long-term vision in urban planning,” and said “an approach-oriented attitude and goal-oriented mindset” can help solve demographic problems, Mehr News Agency reported.

The capital’s centralization has put it at the risk of overpopulation, concentration of resources, various environmental issues, traffic jams and substandard conditions of living.
