More divorces are happening in the early years of marriage with 12% of divorced women being under 20 years of age. Head of the Association of Social Workers Hassan Mousavi said many couples are now splitting in the first two years of marriage – a worrying trend in the institution of marriage, ISNA reported. He added that divorce is especially detrimental to women, further marginalizing them from society, and therefore hampering their socioeconomic contributions.
