Fighting drugs and cracking down on criminals are on top of the police agenda for the coming year (starts March 21). Police commander Brigadier General Esmail Ahmadi Moghaddam said the war on drugs “will involve preventing new cases of drug abuse and simultaneously working to help current addicts to recover,” ISNA reported. Ahamdi Moghaddam added that this would require “an awareness campaign of sorts.” He also said the police intend to rev up their successful crackdown on crime - which resulted in a drop in thefts in the last two months of the current year.
