The Tehran Municipality has denied that it owes “tax debts to the government.” Tehran Municipality budget director Mehdi Pendar said “this is due to the fact that the municipality is exempt from paying taxes.” Pendar added that firms which are affiliated to the municipality should be taxed “only when they have earned profit,” which Pendar claimed has never happened in recent times with most firms reporting losses, ISNA reports.
