At present, 11 million Iranians of marriageable age are still single and “they risk passing the reproductive age.” As fertility declines due to normal, age-related biological changes, encouraging people to marry at an appropriate age is essential, said Dr. Mohammad Esmaeil Motlagh, director general of family, population and schools health department at the ministry of health.
The risk of miscarriage is about 10 percent for women in their 20s, 12% for women in their early 30s, and 18% for women in their mid to late 30s. Miscarriage risk jumps to about 34% for women in their early 40s, and 53% by age 45, Alef News Agency quoted him as saying.
