An earthquake measuring 4.8 on the Richter scale hit Golbaf District, in Kerman county, Kerman Province on Tuesday evening. The seismological center of Kerman Province affiliated to the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University registered the quake at 17:11 local time. There was no report on the possible number of casualties or damage to properties by the quake, Alef News Agency reported.Iran sits astride several major faults and is prone to frequent earthquakes, many of which have been devastating.
