First Vice-President Es’haq Jahangiri and Health Minister Seyed Hassan Ghazizadeh Hashemi are expected to travel to Iraq to hold talks on air-borne fine particles.
Hashemi recently took part in several meetings in the presence of Khuzestan Province Majlis (parliament) representatives, executive authorities and officials of the relevant ministries and organizations including the Department of Environment (DoE), oil and energy ministries, Red Crescent and the Management and Planning Organization (MPO), to discuss and exchange information on the problem of airborne fine particles blowing in from Iraq. Part of the problem lies in airborne fine particles coming from Iraq and the other is related to a decline in precipitation and drying up of Houralazim wetlands in the southeast region of Ahvaz Province.
