Prescriptions by doctors are being studied by a council of medical experts to evaluate them for their quality and also determine cases of over-prescription. The healthcare deputy at the Social Security Organization said the decision to monitor doctors’ prescriptions came after the over-prescription of certain drugs became a growing problem. Siroos Shahni added that the most commonly overprescribed medicines in Tehran include antibiotics, cortisone and unnecessary medical tests, ISNA reports.
