Heavy snowfall on Tuesday evening closed the Karaj-Chalus road, causing traffic jam on this route. The snowfall continues and the situation is expected to persist over the next few days. The snowfall trapped a large number of cars and “traffic and cleanup efforts” are going on to reopen the route, Alef News Agency reported. As the road has partially reopened, however it is unwise to travel since the traffic is heavy and roads are slippery and not very safe. Reza Akbari, Alborz Province traffic police chief urged people to avoid unnecessary trips to the mountainous areas due to the bad weather condition. He also said In rain and snow, the space between two vehicles should increase to twice the normal.
