Nearly 160,000 hectares of land in Isfahan Province is equipped with modern irrigation system as a result of which less than 15% percent of the provincial water resources are used for agriculture, said Seyed Mousa Rahnamaee, head of the agricultural trade system.
Isfahan Province with 568 hectares of cultivable lands produces 6% of the domestic agricultural produce, Mehr News Agency reported. Rahnamaee also called for equitable distribution of water and “giving back farmers’ water rights.”
Besides Isfahan Province, 4500 hectares of agricultural lands in Ahar county, East Azarbaijan Province, has been equipped with pressurized and drip irrigation systems.
