Particle pollution in the southern city of Ahvaz has hit record high as the density reached 66 times over the accepted standards. The occluded air hampered commute to work places before all government offices and schools were closed on Sunday. Hashem Baledi, Head of the Crisis Management Headquarters of Khuzestan Province quoted by Iran newspaper said all the flights at Ahvaz International Airport were also canceled due to the “dire situation.” Aid teams have been dispatched throughout the city to help people in need of assistance.
