The possibility of water contamination in some suburban areas of Tehran is strong, said Khosro Sedeghniat, head of the Environment and Safety Office at the ministry of health. He said this is mainly due to the fact that “water supply to some of the areas is not connected to the national water supply network.” The water problem in Tehran is largely due to the decline in rainfall and also the high levels of nitrate found in underground water, he said quoted by ISNA. To redress the problem, Mamloo Dam will provide additional water to the Tehran network.
