Action is taken within three hours on any complaint of corporal punishment meted out to students, Esfandiar Chaharband, director general of Tehran Province education department said.
Teachers who physically punish students will be ultimately fired, he warned. “This year we had reports of 11 cases of physical punishment in schools,” he said quoted by Mehr News Agency. Dismissing unruly students is far better than corporal punishment and teachers’ awareness should be raised in this regard, he added.
