For the time being, pedestrians who violate traffic laws will not be fined. Tehran Traffic Police Chief Col. Teymoor Hosseini said instead of fining jaywalkers, police officers will verbally admonish pedestrians who for instance cross the roads despite a red light, ISNA reported. The police intend to raise awareness about the importance of respecting traffic laws, he said, adding that the majority of people do abide by the rules.
