The Majlis is drafting a bill to ensure the rights of children and adolescents. Speaker of the Majlis Legal Committee Mohammad Ali Esfanani said “the law is comprehensive in protecting the rights of children in all aspects.” One article of the law necessitates the establishment of the Supreme Council of Children’s Rights, which will be the body responsible for policymaking for children and adolescents, he said. Esfanani added that significant attention has been paid in the bill to the role of NGOs and hoped “the law will be a turning point in children’s rights,” ILNA reports.
