The crime rate which saw a spurt in the first half of the current year (ends March 20) is now on the decline due to additional measures taken by the police, says Police Chief Brigadier General Esmail Ahmadi Moghaddam. The drop in thefts is due to stepped up policing and patrolling, he said, and hoped the downward trend would continue. The decline in the crime rate comes after an increase in the spate of robberies in the past two years that “occupied the attention of the police during the period,” reports ISNA.
