New Plans for Qeshm
New Plans for Qeshm

By the end of the current Iranian year (ends March 20), about 1,000 to 1,500 construction projects will be launched in order to increase the accommodation capacity of Qeshm Free Zone. Negotiations are under way with some investors building 4 and 5 star hotels in the region, announced director general of Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts, and Tourism Organization (ICHHTO) in Qeshm, Abdoljavad Kamali in a press conference.

Pointing to the plans to organize and prepare guest houses to host the visitors, Kamali predicted a busy summer for the island next year, adding that the number of chartered flights to Qeshm has seen an increase compared to last year, ILNA quoted him as saying.

Liberalizing the price of flights may lead to a further increase in traveling to the region and a decrease in the price of tickets to Qeshm, he said.

He then spoke of the project to manage the route to Qeshm Geo Park: “Due to rules and regulations of the Geo Park we cannot asphalt all parts of the access route to the park. Construction is also limited within the vicinity of the park and is considered against preservation of the environment. However, the installation project of the required road signs will be finished by around mid February.”

Revising the Island’s comprehensive tourism plan is on the agenda and fulfilling this, the economic side of tourism industry in Qeshm Free Zone can focus on more precise targets and in more specific details, asserted the official.

Kamali pointed to having introduced a welfare fund in the form of bank loans for women breadwinners to promote and optimize their handicraft merchandise and said following negotiations and agreements, an MOU has been signed with Imam Reza (A.S.) Mehr Fund based on which interest-free loans from $14,000 up to $28,000 and facilitated refund conditions will be granted to them.
