The first gathering of Iranian eco-tourists will be held in Shahrud, Semnan Province, from February 11 to 13, according to Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts, and Tourism Organization (ICHHTO) public relations office in Semnan.
An extensive program has been set out for the meeting participants, including: visiting Bastam historical complex, Sheikh Abolhassan Kharaghani’s mausoleum, the snowy hills of Abr forest and Heaven’s Corridor, sand dunes of Chah-e Jam, and the water museum, along with expert meetings relating to environmental issues and preservation of natural sites, Hamidreza Hassani, head of Shahrud ICHHTO said, CHTN reported. It has been estimated that over 1,000 mountain climbers, eco-tourists, and environmentalists will be among the participants of the 3-day gathering.
Iranian mountain climbers who have succeeded in reaching the highest mountain summits in the world will be also honored during the event, Hassani added. Deceased mountain climbers and the environmentalists who got killed in the line of duty are others to be commemorated.
The event is sponsored by Hirkan Safar Tour and travel agency, in collaboration with Semnan provincial Mountaineering and Sport Climbing Federation, Semnan environmental associations, Travel and Hospitality monthly, Mountain quarterly magazine, and Tanin Tabiat Tirgan Institute.
