A biker from Birjand, South Khorasan traveled 18,000 km to protest against landmines, CHTN quoted public relations office of Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization (ICHHTO) in South Khorasan as stating. During 6 months, Seyed Mehdi Hosseini biked across the northern parts of the country. The slogan of his trip was “Mine, Enemy of Human and Earth”. His trip was aimed to stop planting landmines in Lut desert, urge to clear mined areas, create public awareness on the mine-afflicted regions, and to support the victims of the deadly device and their families. Hosseini started his biking protest on July 10, 2014 and concluded the trip in Birjand on January 1, 2015, the anniversary of the death of environmental researcher and wildlife photographer Seyed Amir Talebipur who was killed last year in an explosion of a landmine in Tange-Amir, northern Lut desert.
