The restoration of water canals of Pasargadae Garden in Fars Province is a top priority of cultural heritage officials, the head of Pasargadae World Heritage Base said.  The first restorative operations were conducted about 10 years ago.  "The latest phase was started on September last year with the aim of preservation, restoration and raising public awareness on the priceless value of these canals," Hamid Fadaei also told Mehr News Agency. This included engineering work to stabilize the surrounding soil and creating ascending slopes to prevent the flow of surface water into the fountains. "To improve our standards, we are also tapping on the expertise of archeologists working at the Persepolis site. Such cooperation also provides a great opportunity to disseminate the knowledge and experience to the next generation," he said. The garden of Pasargadae Complex is among the 13 Persian Gardens inscribed on the list of World Heritage Sites. It was built by the Achaemenid King Cyrus and is reportedly the first Persian Garden.
