Qeshm Island in the Persian Gulf has adequate infrastructure to embark on the construction of a tourist resort on Samuran Mountain in Soheil Village.

"Stunning views of the Persian Gulf make the mountaintop an ideal place for the construction of a tourist resort," said Mohammad Amin Jafari Hosseini, the head of the provincial office of Iran's Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization in Qeshm.

"Apart from a tourism complex, Samuran is also an ideal location for the construction of an observatory," Hosseini was quoted as saying by QFZO's news portal. Qeshm Free Zone Organization has built a road running from the base of the mountain to the top to enable the transport of goods and people.

The project requires 60 billion rials ($15 million) of investment.

"All the required permissions for the project have already been granted," he said, calling on private investors to participate.

Qeshm is the largest island in Persian Gulf and one of the most popular destinations for tourists. Blessed with unique geological formations that host a variety of flora and fauna and sandy beaches lining the pristine waters of the Persian Gulf, the island is attracting many foreign and domestic tourists.  Unfortunately, due to the lack of proper infrastructure, the island has not reached its full tourism capacity. In the past few years, however, measures have been taken to develop the island’s tourism infrastructure.
