Children of ages 7 to 15 are for the first time involved in the production and exhibition of handicrafts in the 28th National Handicrafts Exhibition that opened on Aug. 23 at Tehran’s International Permanent Fairgrounds. With the collaboration of the Ministry of Education and Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization, this year’s exhibition has designated a separate booth for training children and young adults in handicraft production, IRNA reported. “Children are trained in seven branches of handicraft production and their best artworks will be displayed for visitors,” Farideh Mehrinia, curator of the children’s booth, said. The involvement of children in the field is aimed at introducing age-old Iranian handicrafts and prepares the ground in all provinces for the promotion of the industry. Craftspeople belonging to 31 provinces showcase their skills at hall numbers 14, 15 and 25 at the venue until Aug. 29.
