Cultural heritage officials, in cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran Railways, are preparing the dossier for the country’s railroad network for inscription on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
An industrial heritage, Iran’s rail network dates back to World War I and boasts a number of historic structures, including Veresk Bridge in the north and Tabriz Train Station in the northwest.
“The dossier has to be ready by (the Iranian month of) Azar (Nov. 22–Dec. 21),” Mohammad Hassan Talebian, deputy for cultural heritage at Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization, was quoted as saying in a report on the official website of the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development.
