Gas station number 234 in Tehran's 15th Khordad Street has been inscribed on the National Heritage List, the director of Iran Petroleum Museum and Documents said. The gas station enjoys unique structure and architecture, dating back to Pahlavi rule (1925-79) and was built by the Anglo-Iranian Oil Company (founded in 1908 following the discovery of a large oilfield in Masjed Soleiman in Iran).  Akbar Nematollahi also said the time-worn building is unfortunately on the verge of destruction.  "Registering the building on the National Heritage List will attract the heritage authorities' attention and financial support for restoration," he said. The gas station is the second oldest in Iran after the station in Abadan, Khuzestan Province.
