Iranian nationals visiting Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Kazan and Sochi in Russia from June 17 to July 2 should register their arrival with the local immigration police within 24 hours, the Consulate General of Iran in Astrakhan, Russia, said in a statement on Tuesday.
According to the statement, this is a security measure by Russian authorities, which applies to citizens of all countries, to ensure the safety of tourists during the FIFA Confederations Cup 2017 scheduled on the above-mentioned dates.
The rule only applies to those who will not be staying at hotels or other officially-recognized lodging facilities, as they already provide the authorities with a list of guests.
