2 Germans Die in Fars Bus Crash

Two German tourists died and at least 17 were injured when a minibus crashed in Fars Province, local media reported.

The minibus, which was carrying 16 German tourists, overturned while returning from Pasargadae to Shiraz. Officials say the driver lost control of the speeding minibus on the slippery road, which led to the crash.

Mohammad Reza Alimanesh, the head of the provincial Center for Emergency Medical Services, told YJC that the injured were immediately transported to a hospital in Marvdasht.

"Only one was taken to a hospital in Shiraz by helicopter," he said.

In a message, the Foreign Ministry sent condolences to the families of the dead.

"Tourists are our guests … what happened is tragic," ministry spokesman, Bahram Qasemi, said in a statement.
