About 17 international TV channels from Germany, Netherlands, Spain, US, Italy, South Korea, China, and France visited Iran during the current and previous year to report on the unique tourist attractions of Fars Province, CHTN reported.

Foreign Reporters from ZSTV (China), ZDF (Germany), BNN (Netherlands), Ray (Italy), EBS (South Korea), as well as Iranian overseas networks such as iFILM, Press TV, and Jam-e-Jam, and journalists and photographers from the Wall Street Journal made reports and documentaries on the province’s culture, history, and handicrafts, said Mosayeb Amiri, head of provincial Cultural, Handicrafts, and Tourism Organization (ICHHTO).

The official noted that international networks are among the best vehicles for introducing the country’s tourism attractions to the world, adding as a result of the thawing of political relations with the West over the past two years, there has been an increased appeal by the global media to cover Iranian culture.  Statistics, he said, show a direct correlation between the number of tourists and countries in which the Iran-related programs are broadcast.

Amiri said currently Germany, Japan, France and China have been sending the most number of tourists to Iran. “In the first six month of the Iranian calendar year (started on March 21) approximately 154,659 foreign tourists visited the Province’s heritage sites.  This is up 185% compared to the same period last year.”

He outlined the Province’s numerous tourist attractions and pointed to the critical role of travel agencies in providing more efficient services and a welcome experience for foreign visitors.
