Management and Planning Organization has allocated 100 billion rials ($2.5 million at market exchange rate) for tourism projects in Kohgilouyeh-Boyerahmad Province, a local official said. Speaking at a meeting in the provincial capital Yasouj, Hassan Norouzi, the head of the provincial MPO office, said the budget "will be added to all the funding that has already been allocated to tourism schemes in the province", IRIB News reported. It was not clear when the new budget would be made available. Kohgilouyeh-Boyerahmad is among the least visited destinations in Iran due to poor infrastructure, including lack of lodging facilities. The National Development Fund of Iran said last May that it will provide about 1.8 trillion rials ($45 million) in affordable loans to help develop infrastructure in remote destinations, including Kohgilouyeh-Boyerahmad.
