Thai AirAsia X is suspending all of its Middle Eastern operations, just a few months after it entered the region. The Bangkok-based low-cost carrier started flying to Muscat and Tehran in June this year, but flights to Iran’s capital city ceased operating on Dec. 5 and the Oman flights will be suspended on January 19, 2017, Travel Daily Media reported, quoting the Bangkok Post. This follows a reduction in the frequency of both routes in November, from three to two flights per week. But even these measures were insufficient to save the routes, which have struggled with low demand. Thai AirAsia X served both routes with its 377-seat, twin-aisle Airbus A330 aircraft.
